Let's talk about BOOKS, baby . . .

Because I decided not to blog blab about a whole lot last month Ill update you on my finished books. I know your life is incomplete without this information.

Under the Dome - Stephen King - LOVE, huge cast of characters, a little weird, very S.K., LONG

Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King - Collection of short stories, some good, some not my flavor

Heaven in for Real - Todd Burpo - Uplifting, Christian, Faith based tale of a young boys visit to Heaven. Because religion and politics are two things I vow to not really talk about here, Ill just let you have your own opinion, I definitely have mine. Quick read.

Amazing Gracie - Dan Dye - Awesome book, crying, laughing, A very good story for the dog lover in all of us. Keep the tissues close. Quick read.

Currently reading - Walking in Circles Before Lying Down - Merrill Markoe - Liking it so far, only about 75 pages in.

There you have it!

Mr. Matt noticed the very large collection of books gathering at the side of my nightstand and decided to do something about it. He joined paperback swap. Its a pretty cool site. You list the books you have available to swap and browse the 5 million books that other members have posted, request a book and then its on its way to you. If someone requests one of your books, you print off the shipping page, wrap the book up and take it to the post office. You send it "Media Mail" so the shipping cost on most books is under $2! You don't get your book back so only list the books you are willing to part with. Its an interesting system, you earn credits by listing books, you spend credits by requesting books. We will see how it goes. We've already sent off 2 books and have 2 books we want to read on the way to us!

In addition to all my personal reading, Little G and I read together everyday. He loves books and often will chose to sit and look at book instead of playing with the mountain of toys right next to him. He will even pull all the books out of the toy box! He points at the letters and makes up a story in his own little language. Its SOOOO cute, I love this kid!

I have an "on again, off again" love affair with reading. I enjoy the opportunity to lose myself in a life different from my own. My tastes are eclectic bordering on crazy. If it looks interesting Ill most likely read it. I love the popular books and the weird, obscure books. Read something that's outside of your comfort zone, you might be glad you did.
