We started the day with a traumatizing trip to the doctors office. And not traumatizing in the way that you think. Little G needed the next round of assorted shots so I hauled him out to the burb to start this trek. It normally takes us about 30 - 40 minutes to get to the doctors office (thank you TriCare for NOT allowing us the option of seeing a doctor close to our house without having to pay MEGA bucks- its been really convenient! Ahem). Well the long drive was even longer due to 4 separate construction zones! Finally after a hour and 15 minutes of driving we get to the office only to find that there are no parking spots in the free parking lot - GRRR. Okay, I find a meter, parallel park my school bus on a busy street, extract Little G from his prison car seat and head into the office located on the 3rd floor. Elevator Out Of Service. HMMM. Okay, walk up 3 flights of stairs while holding a 30lbs sack of potatoes. Make it to the office and wait in line to check in. We don't have to make appointments for shots which is nice because by this time there is no doubt in my mind that I would be terribly late. Waiting. Holding squirmy child who desperately wants to play with the toys. Still waiting. Okay my turn.
Me: "We are here for Little G's next round of shots."
Check-in Lady: "Our computers are down."
Me: "Well a person normally gives him the shots, not a computer." Okay I didn't say that but I wanted to.
Me for real: "Do you know how long they will be down? Minutes, hours, days?"
Check-in Lady "I have no idea, here is the number you call can to check."
Are you kidding me? Its taken me all of the morning to get there and now you tell me you cant do anything? Poop. I desperately wanted to yell at the poor check-in lady but knew better. Its not her fault the computers are down and she looked completely deflated from what I'm sure was a morning full of mega pissed off people. So I just cried in the car - hey I had another 45 minutes on my meter! Now this all wouldn't have been such a big deal to me if the doctors office was 10 or 15 minutes from my house and the walk-in time for shots wasn't like an hour long on assorted days of their choosing. Alas, I must do this all again at a later date when all the wonderful government computers have decided to work again.
Time to play some catch up. I have been able to finish up some personal quilting stuff despite the monsoon of work quilting that came in over the last few weeks! I finished the hand binding on my flower applique quilt as evidenced here:
I also sewed the binding down to my next hand binding project. Blocks made by my Gma B, hand quilted by my Aunt Donna, and soon to be bound by me! I knew that I would never be able to match the muslin so I opted for a neutral hounds tooth print. I picked up some extra yardage to so I could make some cute pillows or window treatments or something later! Yippee! The quilting and the handwork on this piece is perfection exemplified! And I get to keep it. Huzzah!
I finished setting all my red hand applique blocks together! Why is it that I have a really hard time deciding what to quilt on my own stuff? I want something cool, but not overdone and overused. I want to to be traditional but kinda funky. I want someone else to tell me what to do. Ill figure it out and maybe - just maybe - I could SQEEEEEEZE it in sometime in the near future.
Oh my Color Brick quilt. Phooey. Its kickin' my a$$ right now. I don't wanna talk about it. Linen, I love you but I hate you. I might need to do some "creative adjustments". And its me and my fabric, NOT the pattern mind you. I'm so embarrassed by the whole thing right now. Of course karma comes back to bite me, "A simple, quick project" I remember saying in a previous post. Well, yes, it would have been had I not tried to make it large enough to cover the empire state building while using stretchier-than-I-want-it-to-be (but still decent quality mind you) linen, and pre-washed fabric. I'm not going to call it a complete fail yet, but I'm close! HA! I know what I need to do but I just dont want to do it (its involves pins ughhhhhh and feed dogs and careful fabric placement). Even though it is VERY embarrassing for me to post this (sewing is my job so its doubly embarrassing), because this is an honest blog and I'm a real person, Ill show you this photo just because I love you and maybe you will laugh at my pain.
Mr. Scissors Taker decided to grace me with his presence this weekend (or some of it at least). AND, AAAANNNNNNDDDD he power washed the back deck and front entryway! WHAT? WHAT??? I'm in heaven. Helping me is definitely one of my love languages! It was awesome! Check those things off the list! And he spent time watching assorted football games with buddies. Work, play, family, and friends. It can happen every once and awhile.
Little G and I had some MEGA fun at the park these last few days. Autumn, I love you. I wish you could stay forever!

I feel like a haven't been super bloggy lately! I have mucho amounts of things I want to blab about: Banking fee drama, Craigslist, Garage Sales, Cinnamon Bun Coffemate Creamer, what a good food week I had, My awesome neighbors, finished books, STL Freecycle, Paperback Book Swap. Its been a good (and not so good) past few days but my nap time window is slowing coming to a close and I still have A LOT of other things I wanna get done before my assistant wakes up.

My colorbricks never lined up right on one side either. I just trimmed whichever side was off and called it a day! =)
I'm so glad the Grandma B, Aunt Donna quilt made it your direction. It must have been waiting on binding for more than a decade if I remember right!
Love the park pictures!!!
