Rain. Satan must have been reading my blog (I don't know what that says about my relationship with Satan). Whatever the case may be, he seemed to have taken the hint and today my corner of IL was blessed with rain and much cooler temps!
Music. Queen, Styx, and Journey made my day much easier. I grooved out all day. I sung and danced like nobody was watching - which is probably a good thing, otherwise I might not have any friends left.
Nap time. Both Little G and I got a good nap in. Normally I try to get a whole bunch of stuff accomplished while he's sleeping, but not today. A good nap was in order.
Now for the project update!
I decided to make a Colorbrick quilt with that stack of Amy Butler and linen fabric! I found this quilt tutorial over at Stitched in Color. I decided that an easy project was in order and this pattern fit the bill perfect!
Hit the above button to check it out!
So here's where I stand. All of my bricks have been cut out!
I have all of the short sashing strips sewn to my bricks.
I have been sewing all of the bricks into rows. I have laid out the bricks in the order that I add them to the rows. Because I'm only using 5 different fabrics, I decided to go with or more planned look of my bricks, otherwise I would have ended up with a lot of areas with like fabric touching, and that would have bothered me greatly with this project.
I have 11 rows sewn together! Yippee! I'm making this quilt king sized to fit on our bed. I'm not sure how many rows I will have when I'm finished. I'm using 12 bricks in each row. I like the quilts that go on the bed to be wider than they are long. It drives me bananas when the quilt doesn't cover the mattress AND the box spring.
So there's my project update! I'm having a great time with this quilt! Once its done I wont have the urge to make another king size quilt for a while! Then I can get a few different projects rolling. The longer I have a project on my plate, the less I seem to like it until its finished. So I'm doing my best to not drag this project out forever!
And a special pic just for Anna:
The way scissors work at my house is opposite of your system. All "non sewing" scissors have been tagged with blue painters tape. You may use these scissors for anything you like. Don't touch any scissors without the blue tape. The penalty for this crime is severe, so don't even think about it. Because sewing/quilting is my job, this is important. You definitely don't want to be the one who answers "me" to the dreaded question: WHO TOOK MY SCISSORS?
